The latest most exciting treatment in the hair loss world is exosomes. Since 2019, this option has become increasingly popular. Read through the end of this page for FAQs and answers on exosomes.

FDA Exosome Notice July 22, 2020

Exosomes are extracellular vesicles (EVs) that are 30–150 nm in diameter. These tiny vesicles are involved in direct cell to cell communication throughout the human body. Dr. Jeffrey Rapaport is one the pioneers in the US and World when it comes to using exosomes to grow hair in patients.

Note that a number of sketchy and unreputable companies are producing exosomes. The FDA released a warning about this in December 2019.

Dr. Rapaport only uses mesenchymal stem cell derived exosomes that are produced by FDA certified registered laboratories. These exosomes are purified using proprietary cGMP processing methods.

Exosomes Hair Loss Treatment

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Jeffrey Rapaport in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey now offers Exosome hair restoration therapy. Exosomes are messenger proteins from stem cells, and they are considered as one of the purest forms of advanced cellular therapy.

How do Exosomes Grow Hair?

Studies have shown that exosomes heal, repair, stimulate, and restore cells and tissues. When injected, exosomes trigger stem cell stimulation and natural regeneration of hair follicles. Treatment with exosomes represents a groundbreaking cutting-edge therapy for hair loss. It is one of the most exciting new developments when it comes to hair loss treatments. According to Dr. Rapaport, exosomes are ideal for men and women with thinning hair; excessive shedding; and both early and late stages of hair loss.

How Long Before you see Results?

Patients can see results in as little as 4-8 weeks after injection. Exosomes treatment can be performed to prevent hair loss, increase hair density, or regrow hair. Please take the HAIR LOSS QUIZ to see if you are an ideal candidate.

How Long is the Exosome Procedure?

The procedure takes about 1 hour and is done within the office. Dr. Rapaport uses his proprietary Subdermal Depo technique to inject exosomes in the scalp. This technique offers a relatively painless experience and requires no numbing or ring block for pain management.

Mechanism of Action

Exosomes contain numerous growth factors that benefit hair growth. These growth factors stimulate and modulate many healing and regenerative processes.

Exosomes are not cells, but rather, are something called micro-vesicles. These vesicles are about 1/1000th the size of a cell and contain no nucleus or DNA. They can be regarded as the purest form of cellular therapy available. Their function is to direct tissue and wound healing by activating the patient’s own regenerative cell response. This is one of the latest generations of naturally bioactive stem cell based patient treatments.

Exosomes work by paracrine signaling i.e. local cell-to-cell communication to induce changes in nearby cells to create the appropriate healing environment to restore tissue. The exosomes in ExoFlo are those paracrine signals isolated from stem cells that can be delivered without the need for delivering stem cells.

Stem cells by nature work to heal, repair, and restore the body. But, in some cases where there is a chronic abnormality, these cells fall into an inflammation state, work in an unregulated capacity and inhibit healing. Dr. Rapaport uses ExoFlo exosomes which are isolated from mesenchymal stem cells and purified using proprietary processing. The 2000+ growth factor proteins found to naturally occur in healthy tissue and in ExoFlo have shown to help modulate the inflammatory healing process. This is accomplished by activating and recruiting the patient’s own cells to the area, revascularizing the area and reducing the inflammatory response to allow natural healing.

Benefits of Exosomes for Hair Growth

“Exosomes have the potential of becoming a standard of care in the fight against hair loss”

Dr. Jeffrey Rapaport
  • Exosomes are very tiny and highly concentrated. One treatment is all you need.
  • Exosomes impact signaling that stimulates the healing action of human body’s stem cells.
  • They also signal blood vessel growth, in the process benefitting hair follicle regeneration.
  • Exosomes modulate white blood cell function to reduce inflammation.
